Fuel Pump Accordian Hose Install

Can anyone give me any hints on how to install the accordian clear hose to the barbed fitting on the housing assembly.
I've tried for hours and now I have the hose kinked. Any help would be greatly appreciated. OR what type of fuel line I could use in it place.
Thanks, have a great weekend and God Bless Our Troops and the U.S.,

I don't remember it being that hard to install, but it has been a while since I upgraded the fuel pump. Have you tried dipping it in hot/boiling water first and then attempting to push it over the barbed fitting?

I tried that along with a little grease no luck. I just replaced my parents fuel pump in their Jimmy and it was not that hard.
