Fuel pressure test

I did a fuel pressure test on my car. When i turn the key to the on position with the car off the pressure gauge jumps to 42-43 psi then drops to 35 rite after. When I drive the car the pressure is at 35 untill I give it more gas to wot then it goes to 42-42 till I let off. Is this normal

Re: Fuel pressure test

It drops to 35 when you start the engine, or does it hit 42psi when you turn the key on and then drop off before starting the engine? The specs say for fuel pressure when engine is off power on to be anywhere from 41-47 psi or so. Then when you start the engine it is suppose to drop anywhere from 3-9 psi and it's normal.

Re: Fuel pressure test

When I turn the key and the fuel pump turns on and I get 42 psi. As the key is on still the pressure drops to35 within a 2 seconds without me turning the engine on. It just drops it doesn't slowly go down. When I crank it the engine idles with 35 psi till I Rev it wot.

Re: Fuel pressure test

Yea it should not drop down to 35 while you're sitting there. And what you explained in your first post was that you did take the car for a good run while watching your pressure gauge?

Some fuel could just be bleeding back down the lines to the tank. Have you checked the fuel pump yet, do you have the "fuel pump hatch" mod?

Re: Fuel pressure test

I would not be concerned at this point. Your pressures when driving sound normal.
