Fuel line(s) help!

I am changing my fuel lines to braided and when I fed the existing lines back through the wheel well the return line began leaking gas so I put the end in an old bottle I had and figured it would just drain the filter amount or something. I can't get it to quit running. I have half filled a one gallon jug and then I lifted it up in the air and tied it off until I can figure out what to do. How much gas should come out???? I can't unhook it underneath until it quits flowing.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Not sure. I have the battery and everything unhooked but if I remember correctly should be about 1/2 tank. If it's siphoning any way to get it to quit without draining the tank???
