fuel gauge with sharader valve...
i have an electronic stewart warner fuel pressure gauge in putting in a lt1, i have never messed with the shrader valve on the fuel rail... what tool/s do i need to take the valve out? (they gave me this sensor that needs to be screwed in there once the inside valve is removed...)
The core of the Schrader valve can be removed with a tire valve core tool, available in the tire repair section of any auto parts store.
Once you remove the core, you have to attach the sensor. I have never seen a sensor that screws into the internal threads of the Schrader valve, where the core was removed. The Schrader valve is a male -4AN fitting. The typical fuel pressure sensor is 1/8" NPT male. You need an adapter to go from -4AN to 1/8" NPT.
You might want to think twice about connecting the sensor directly to the Schrader valve. It is only swaged onto the fuel hard line, and can break off with any sort of excessive torque. I found the best thing to do is get a -4AN 90-degree swivel fitting (e.g. - NOS part #17585) and screw that on the Schrader valve. That gets the connection pointed away from the cowl. Then use a short -4AN braided hose with a -4AN fitting on one end, and a 1/8" NPT thread on the other, and use a 1/8" NPT coupling to connect the pressure sensor to the hose. That way you can tuck the sensor out of the way, away from the heat and vibration of the engine.

Injuneer....... thank you for your detailed answer!!! well heres what i figured out...
i got a fitting that fits over the shrader valve... then the steel bradded hose, then a fitting that screws onto the electronic gage sender thingy... so i connected the shrader valve to the gauge sensor with a steel bradded hose... sound ok? i havent tried it yet.
