i was told it may need to be replaced and where is it located thanks

probably not uses hall effect in distributor don't think they came out until 97 could be wrong just trying to help

Is the RS a V8 or a V6? Might not make a difference, because the Chilton's engine control diagrams for the 3.1LV6 and 305V8 do not show a crank sensor for either. As noted in the post above, the ECM can get the cam/crank position info from the distributor.
