Best optispark?

Hi all,
I'm going to replace my optispark cap and rotor with another. Which do you all prefer, and what has worked best for you? Also, vented or non vented and why? I'm probably going to do the waterpump at the same time, and wondered if a remanufactured would work just the same? Thanks all for any input.

The stock one with a LTCC I have had the best luck with the one that came on my car in 1996. The high voltage section is the problem part the optical section is pretty stout.

The Bailey LTCC takes the optical cam sensor signal from the Optispark, runs it through the LTCC "black box" and uses 8 LS1 coils in direct fire, instead of sending the spark through the stock coil and the cap/rotor on the Opti.

Removing the high voltage from the Opti seems to eliminate most of the problems.

May be overkill, if your engine isn't highly modified, or running a "power adder". The OEM Delphi Opti, from "thepartsladi" on ebay is the best bet.

You need to add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, trans and major mods.

When i went w/ the Msd opti it was vented, had a replaceable cap/rotor,sealed better.IMO a far better unit than the orig. equipment junkAlso b/f i bought my car i found out the first opti died when the h20 pump puked on the opti.(this @16,000 mi.)Again just utter sh..t the 93/94 opti,s;this is another reason/example GM has gone downhill

Actually, most people here have found that the OEM/Delphi Opti performs as well as the MSD, for less money. They both have "a replaceable cap and rotor" and its very easy to add a vent connection to the Delphi cap. Both units do have a problem with the rotor screws backing out, if you don't take to time to add some Loc-Tite.
