Anyone familiar with GM fuel pump modules? Venturi pump Q.

Hey guys,

Slightly unusual question but hopefully someone can help me. Building a custom car that uses a aluminum fuel cell.

I am using a GM fuel pump module that uses the venturi/jet pump to get fuel into the bucket. I am only using the bucket and jet pump from the module. I will install the main pump into the bucket with a line going to the jet pump, then just run a hose from the main pump to the fuel-out fitting. This should get me fuel into the bucket, while keeping my pump submerged for cooling.

Where I need help is this module has a float and a seal that looks like it controls the fuel level in the bucket. Or, it forces the jet pump to suck harder when the fuel level in the bucket goes down. I am unsure whether to use it or not. I have 2 other modules but they use a smaller bucket.

Does anyone know for sure what this thing does?
Thanks,
Cory
