96 LT1 into a 99 Z28 / Fuel pump ?

I have a 99 Z28 that a friend of mine had taken the motor and transmission out to put into a hot rod . I had my 96 z28 I had parked on a street corner and a drunk driver crushed the rear end , I ended up taking the motor and transmission out of it and I put it into my Buddies .

Does Anyone know if the fuel pump will work from the 99 and if not when I switch the pump over to a 96 pump will the wiring work at the pump ? Or does anyone know of a fuel pressure regulator , because I have heard the 99 ls1 was more pressure . Any help would be great.

Re: 96 LT1 into a 99 Z28 / Fuel pump ?

99 pump will supply fuel to the LT1 engine. But the 99 fuel system is a totally different design.

The LT1 system is a fully recirculated system (supply line to the fuel rails, return line from the rails to the tank), with the vacuum compensated fuel pressure regulator (43.5psi) on the rails, on the return line connection.

The LS1 system is a dead-ended system (line from the tank to the rails only, no return line), and the pressure regulator (58psi) is at the tank, and is not vacuum compensated.

The issue will be the lack of vacuum compensation on the fuel pressure. You could probably get a tuner to take care of that in the program, and run the dead-ended system at 58psi. But the LT1 injectors do not like elevated fuel pressures. The best way to proceed would be to bypass the LS1 regulator at the tank, and add a return line to the tank, so you could keep the stock LT1 rails and regulator.
