Need help with a 94 z28. I got the codes and its throwing code 16 , low resolution pulse failure. when i start the car it idles rough for a lil bit then shuts off. But sometimes it wont shutoff and will drive. But runs rough.

I changed the plugs and wires. My cat was bad so I gutted it for the moment. None of that helped. Can it be that it has no back pressure since the cat was gutted

 

This is confusing, because in your other post, you didn't mention DTC 16. That's the code for loss of the low resolution cam position signal from the Opti. When that code sets, the PCM shuts down the fuel system, because it can't time the injectors and ignition correctly to the crank rotation.

As suggested for DTC 36, check both ends of the short Opti harness connectors for corrosion and/or damaged pins.

Clear the code, and see how soon it comes back. Pull "PCM BAT" fuse for 30 seconds to clear the code.
