will 1/4 mile times drop a lot with boost?
will 1/4 mile times drop a lot with boost?
I was running 14.53 1/4 mile times before all my mod's (below). My 0-60 time dropped by 1 1/2 seconds but is still around 6 seconds. Will the 1/4 mile time drop even more since the boost will give me more horses at higher rpm's?
A stock 94 Z28 went from 0 - 60 mph in under 6 seconds; sounds like you need a tune or better tires. When my 95 was stock it ran a 13.9 seconds 1/4 mile on street tires. Adding a 6# Vortech and some drag radials got my quarter mile times down to 12.7 seconds with a poor 1.9 60 ft.
The ET gains are often below expectation in that peoples expectations are "calibrated" for NA. The blower will add a lot of MPH, but compared to an NA car with the same hp, will not ET as quick. This has mostly to do with the added power being up top, not in the meat of the powerband. OTOH, nitrous often produces more gain than the hp would suggest, for the opposite reason.

I have looked into 1/4 mile times for the better cars (wrx, cobra, etc) and found most stock ones are in the 13's so if i get my car tuned in right i hope to see those numbers or better. I notice my 0-60 time dropped by over a second but when i reach the 60 mph range that is where it really wants to take off. I figure i will be way behind but storm back once the car reaches 75+. I need drag radials bad since i have zero traction off the line and horrible wheel spin when it shifts into 2nd. Hope my rearend holds up!
lol.. big debate... but it kinda ended in the reasoning that a f/i car makes the power "under the curve" and will be faster. There is a big thread on it a ls1tech....
I would think it would be like a good 60' time will lower your 1/4 time more than the difference of a bad 60'. If i spin the tires i can get the mph up there but it will take longer to make it to the end. Just like waiting for the green light and having a bad reaction time sort of.
