What is considered a high IAT with SC?

I just checked a Datamaster log from last year - in October.

59 degrees
33.1 dew point
38% humidity
30.32 pressure

IAT's started at 110 and end of the run was 161 - i'd been running all day long.

Are these too high for 7lbs of boost?

Wondering if I should think about an injection kit or something to cool these numbers down.

Don't know much about IAT's and how they affect everything so if this sounds like an ignorant question - bear with me.

Doesn't sound too too high, however, you want your IAT as close to ambient as you can get it.

If you're not running an intercooler/aftercooler that's about where you'll end up after a hard run. Mine don't get much higher than where yours started out on a hot day but I'm running a 3 row intercooler too. When IAT's get up anywhere in the 100+ range you'll notice a substantial drop in power. That's normal since the computer is compensating for the high intake temps by reducing fuel and timing advance.

Remeber, stock LT1 internals don't like high IAT's. Detonation is the #1 killer of stock pistons.

Sounds like an IC or meth kit will give me more power then - or at least prevent me from being robbed of it.

Thanks

Definitely. Either one will let you keep the power you're trying to make and give you a fighting chance to keep your engine in one piece. I'm seriously thinking about going with the meth injection kit in addition to the intercooler. Curious to see if it will keep the intake temps down on those hot summer nights.

my turbocharged 383LT1 with water to air intercooler chilled by ac system. At 18psi back to back runs wot. My IAT is at 139 and cruisin speed, IAT is at 98-103 range.
