Ignition options
I am working on a friends car, its a YSi trim 383. We are expecting 850rwhp, and are looking at ignition options. I have never used an opti past 700rw, my personal car that made over 900rw, I ran a coil per cyl setup.
We had to gap the plugs down to .025 to get the thing to light off at high boost, even with a BTM-6
Those of you making ~800rw, what are you doing for ignition?

Re: Ignition options
I've made 680 rwhp with an auto/loose converter using the stock Opti, MSD coil, and Crane HI-6. I've run it as high as 21 psi with no mis-fire. I think my plug gap is somewhere around .030".
I did have an ignition problem for a while - a severe backfire only at high boost. I replaced the old MSD coil with a new one and the problem went away totally.

Re: Ignition options
interesting. MSD said they were "not surprised' it blew the spark out with only a 6 series box.
Maybe I just need to keep the gap that small. I ran .035 on my coil per cyl setup with out fail, however.

I don't know for certain, but I believe they have the same output.
We run .032 on our cars fwiw. Not sure why you would be having a problem.
System voltage steady? Wiring/grounds good? What coil?
