They are Russell o-ring style. I bought it at a local shop when I got the regulator; that is just what they carried.

I am pretty sure the thread pitch is not NPT, it is AN straight thread, so you have to use the o-ring style.

ok, I now have the second port hooked up

question

how far down did you have the spring preload? I am running 12 psi so I have it pretty far down, but if the second hose will keep it closed, perhaps I can loosen it up?

Mine had the screw sticking out about 1 inch, which gave it a nice sharp sound. With it screwed in more it made almost a fluttering sound.

How much boost were you running?

I was running about 12 PSI, but even at lower PSI, like 6-9, I could still get the same effects, it just wasn't as dramatic or as loud like at the higher PSI.

Well, I tried it with the second port hooked up, doesn't seem open and close quite as quickly... and here is what the tech from Greddy said:

Jim,
You do not need to hook up the bottom vacuum port. That is for ventilation
to release any pressure on the bottom of the diaphragm moving up and down.
There are no specific boost range for the valve adjustment.
You need to set it so that the you do not get a compressor surge. set it so
that you get a one clean blow when you let off the throttle but not to soft
that the air gets sucked in from the out let during idle. If you have the
adjustment screw all the way down, you will need to bring it out. When the
screw is down to much the valve will not open.

So I guess I will put it back the way I had it.

Trial and error, add that to the list!!

Re: Turbos do's and don'ts

Read GReddy's instructions, it shows both ways. All I'm saying is I could barely ever even hear that big BOV until I hooked up both ports. Then it was a night and day difference. Leave both ports hooked up and forget about it. You were having pressure releif problems with only the one port hooked up, right?

Nope. It was working ok with just the one hose, now it seems to "flutter" a bit, with no change but the addition of the extra hose and fitting. I am going to plug the fitting in the IC pipe and run it like it was, at least until I can do some tuning and break in on the new motor. Then I can always change it back if it isn't doing what I want.

With just the one hose, you can hear it, even with light throttle opening and closing..

Re: Turbos do's and don'ts

I added that BOV to the turbo tech kit. I only had that punny 60-1 HiFi. I'm sure you have 2 turbo's that size. Maybe they put out enough air to really push it open... I don't know. I run my Turbonetics Godzilla BOV with the 2 ports hooked up as well. Works great, but there is no adjustment spring on this BOV.
