What i'm saying is that the entirety of drivers side header bypasses the wastegate. Maybe it doesn't make any difference, but I would assume that a wastegate placed in between the turbo and the drivers side would be more effective. And you never said how big it was?

Re: Turbo Hotside

It's a 40mm Tial. There is nothing stopping the driver's side exhaust gas from going through the wastegate. The gas will follow the path of least resistance.

Ah yes, that's true. I always forget the simple physics

Sorry I missed the downpipe pics.

Here it is when it was finished. At the time of this picture the downpipe was mild steel and necked down from 3.5" to 3" here and was a slip-fit. Now it's 3.5" stainless all the way to the cat back and is V-banded.

A bunch of guys said I couldn't fit a 3.5 inch downpipe in there. HA!

The headers are Hedmans for a Vortec equipped '96-98 Chevy half-ton with a 305. They're the only SBC headers I could find for a reasonable price that had the passenger's front primary (now the driver's rear primary) come up and over the middle primaries. Obviously they're reversed. The passenger's side (on the car) is perfect once you remove the A/C (the collector dumps where the A/C pump mounts) and hack the AIR pump fitting off the header and weld the hole closed. The driver's side (again, on the car) fits perfectly. It started rubbing the steering shaft a little, so I dimpled the number 5 primary where it gets near the shaft. Other than that they fit like they're made for the car. The passenger's rear primary even has a nice eighth-inch clearence from the heater box. The only downside is that the collectors are two-inch ball and socket flanged. I was in a hurry to get it done and out of the shop so I used them with the little collectors for a couple of years, but during the current rebuild we hacked off the collectors and fabbed in a 2.5" stainless collector with a V-band.

Cliff's notes: They're for a pickup. Hack 'em up and they'll fit.

they are probably a little big but i would think some modding might get them to fit.

I'd give them a shot on something with a big engine bay (64 impala, 72 chevy pickup, etc)... I doubt they'd get anywhere near fitting on a 4th gen.

Well there's that, there's also been alot of complaints that their welds and even their tubing cracks. Check out the power adder forum on thidgen.org.

Just finished the mock-up for the passenger header. 1-3/4 SS primaries/Burns Merge Collector.

Now I just have to fab the drivers side, hook-up the crossover and mount the 4" down-pipe.

I was originally going to use SLP shorties, but changed my mind after I didn't like the way they were built.

Its disassembled right now for welding but basically it just hugs the block and is angled between the oil pan and the access. bracket. The crossover then runs in the space between the oil pan and the balancer pulley like everyone else.
