Turbo Hotside

So I'm thinking about building my own turbo setup. What do you all think about using the "Block hugger" shorties as turbo headers?

If anyone can post pictures of how their single turbo LT1 f-body system is routed through the engine bay i'd appreciate it. I'm really just trying to get ideas. By the way i'll be using a T-4 frame turbo, but T-6 frame setups would be fine too.

Here's my initial inspiration.

The last primary on the driver's side looks like it will hit the steering linkage coming out of the firewall... been there and done that.

Well I'll be sure to ask Wingnut about that. I would do the driver's side differently anyway, I don't like the 2 primaries going in perpendicular to the collector, can't be good for flow.

Dont know, it hasnt been installed yet Honestly it looks like it would hit stock fans based on measurements, but since the a/C gets deleted the radiator/fans can me moved forward for clearance.

Jon: Nice work on the second one... Looks like you've been quite busy in that shop of yours.

Re: Turbo Hotside

Where does the passenger side exhaust wrap around to the drivers side, under the oil pan? Or behind the pan?

Re: Turbo Hotside

Dang, Realquick, that 2nd setup looks shockingly similar to mine. Differences are my passenger's side header is a regular SLP single-cat shorty. Also, my turbo is not quite as crooked as yours. In other words, it's more in line with the car. I like it because it's very servicable. I can pull any 1 part of the system without disturbing the rest of it. I can pull the driver's side log header without removing the crossover pipe or turbo. I can pull the turbo without removing the log or downpipe. I can pull the crossover without. . . ah you get the idea. . .

If anyone can host pic's I'll e-mail my hotparts over.

Thanks Jered. The more you play around and take others inputs as wel, the better the designs get. My wife hates that I use her spot in the garage for my fabbing, but I did by her a remote start for winters

Mike, I definitely used TTi and your kit as inspiration, as well as valuable input from Roadie. Your kit is very similar to TTi's LS1 street kit as far as tube size goes (2.5" crossover and 3" log... thats how I did it too).

I angles the turbo torward the driver's side fender to avoid any problems with the DP and steering shaft...it was easier that way for me.
