Sounds like you are getting the overheating figured out but I wonder if your transmission overheated because you moved the cooler off the radiator? I'm guessing your radiator does not have the built in cooler line hookups for auto trannies? Do you run a transmission temp gauge?

Well the trans cooler is mounted to the intercooler so it should still be getting air to it, but maybe not enough! I didnt run the wire for the trans temp gauge yet, that is prob my issue lol

oh well it is giving me reason to yank the stupid 4l60e.

I have a TH400 on the way here today, Trans brake, rev manual vb, stainless hub etc

And just ordered a TCO 3500 anti ballooning convertor!

nice! well if you think about it, the transmission is getting near ZERO cooling while you're sitting in slow traffic or the pits. That is why the stock radiator has the cooling provision built in...it is ALWAYS cooling, and the engine coolant has a much better heat transfer coefficient than air.
I believe I have the same problem and I'm trying to come up with an inexpensive way around it since I have not seen a radiator I can mount vertically that also has automatic transmission cooling capabilities.
I too will be wiring my trans temp gauge as soon as my tranny is back in.

Check out this link from TCI. It shows transmission life expectancy VS. temperature.

OKay well this thing is still overheating Logged it today bc I thought maybe my header was too close tot he sensor. I drove for 20min and made 7PSI twice and the car ran up to 230*.
I also have a turbo blanket now, that helped with underhood temps but the car still heats up.
I wonder if my pump isnt flowing good enough...
Also my upper rad hose is really pressurized

PS the TH400 is amazing! I did a small data log and saw 450AFGs at 5150rpm and 66% throttle

Did you fix that gap between the air dam and the rad?

okay so sat night i fixed the issue I think. New tstat and new fans. I brought the temp to 215 hit the fans and it dropped like a rock to 170. So went in washed up and drove it to the car was since sat nights I go out to meets/races And one of the fans touched the rad and put a hole in it....
FML lol
So now I am going to pull the rad and cut the entire rad support out and make more room for the rad.

Wooot car runs great now! I bought a 27.5x19x3 griffen rad and made a air damn.

Drove the car for a solid 45 min most of it highway at 3krpm and it didn't see over 175. And the mixture is like 70/30 water coolant!.

Well drove it for a good while today and it ran cool and great! Deffinitly need to install an oil restrictor on the turbo, maybe tomorrows task.

Here are some picks of fitting the bigger rad :P, as u can tell in the first pic i cut the entire bottom rad support out and welded in a 1inch bar to mount the rad on.

Sorry for the messy pics there was lots of grinding and cutting involved.
