Took my turbo 383 out for it's first run, have some questions
Ok, I took out my 96 TA tonight for it's first road run. The motor is a 383 9:1 CR, AFR 190s XE224/236/114 cam, 42lb delphi lucas injectors, and a turbotech kit with a 60-1hifi turbo and superfueler. The car idle's although it is somewhat rough. The timing tables are stock, and we're seeing no knock retard at all. The knock count jumps up only upon start up. There is no audible detonation either. I'm using autotap to monitor everything. I saw 4-5lbs of boost on the boost gauge, but my brother who was in the passenger seat said he saw a little more. It feels pretty strong. Do I need to be concerned about the timing, or should I just concentrate on AFR? I've got LT1_edit, but I'm not sure which tables I should use to edit the timing should I need to. Other than using the PE tables for WOT, what other tables should I edit for A/F ratio. I've got a techedge wideband to use for tuning also.

The stock timing is set at 34 at WOT at high RPM, that may be a little high. Although if you can run that safely, that's great especially at only 4-5 lbs. I'm running at 28 to be safe but at 11#.
For A/F
- Change injector size if you haven't already
- PE vs RPM
- if need to PE vs coolant temp
- if really need to injector offset vs volts
Are you planning to increase boost later on?
good luck

I've changed the injector size to 42lbs, and the cylinder size to 383. I only ran it up to about 4500rpm. Which table should I use to change the timing? I am planning to up the boost later to ~10-15 with a manual boost controller. I've also got to install my BOV(MAF is already on the pressure side), and put the IAT sensor into the intake trac.
Timing table in the spark advance 400-4000 rpm and spark adv over 4000rpm tables. This timing changes will be very important when you up your boost. You can also tune it for driveability.
