Supercharged LS1 T/A fuel system
Supercharged LS1 T/A fuel system
A friend of mine has a 2000 T/A WS6 w/ a powerdyne supercharger(yeah it blows and not in the good way) But the fuel system is all stock and from what I've read and been told it needs upgraded. What all should be upgraded........injectors(what size, brand), fuel pump i assume but wont he need a regulator also. I've also saw aftermarket fuel rails and such. This is kinda a new section of the car were getting ready to tackle and don't know a lot about this stuff.......Thanks guys

How much boost is he going to run? Those kits can vary from 4.5-9psi depending on which pulley you use and that will determine a bit. What other mods does he have? I would recommend reading: https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=566122 to familiarize yourself with supercharger basics, although that is written for LT1s it still has great info for someone just starting out.
he bought it with the supercharger on it, the guy said it has a 6psi pulley. The engine is completely stock other than the powerdyne charger and the diablo programmer. Right now were in the process of getting headers and exhaust on it to get started then an intake lid
6psi should be fine on that motor with the stock setup, other than a larger in tank pump or inline boost pump. Does he have a boost gauge on it? With any boosted setup you want to make sure you're getting what you should. Pull one of the spark plugs out and see what kind it is and check the gap. You want to make sure the previous owner did not make any mistakes choosing parts. Pull off the inlet side of the blower and try to wiggle the impeller shaft, if it moves at all the blower will NEED to be rebuilt. Powerdynes use a sealed bearing that wears with time and if its on its way out it could cause the impeller to contact the casing. Should that occur, the impeller shreds and metal shards are blown into your motor, destroying it. I would also get that thing tuned by a professional. Fuel mapping is crucial to a boosted build, and too much timing is also bad. Properly tuned and maintained, 6psi will make that a fun car to drive around as well as safe.
I wouldn't think so on an otherwise stock motor. I would have it taken in somewhere for a dyno tune and then they can see what the injector duty cycle is pulling. If its greater than 85% he would be reaching the danger zone. I would also recommend everything in my above posts again, I'd hate to see someone pop their new motor when the problem could have possibly been addressed ahead of time. If the tensioner pulley on that powerdyne should be loose he will also be making less, or no boost at all.
yeah, it just doesnt seem to be doing anything, but the charger system is suppose to be almost brand new theres only been a few thousand miles on it since it was installed. but right now it's def not much of a supercharged T/A......the LT1 in my sig will outrun his T/A
