I seriously thinking jumping onboard with the forced induction. My question, how hard is it to obtain 500 to 600 rwhp? I have my 95 that is naturally aspirated, but I'm about to build another one. My 95 is strong, but I want something scary.
I have another 95 that the engine is knocking, so now is the time to rebuild. I see where people is putting down 375 rwhp, but I'm doing that on what I have now. Like I stated above, I want 500 to 600 rwhp and terrorize the streets.
Thanks

A 383 with a s-trim will get you there easily with a minimum of hassle. You should decide what hp you want though - there will be a difference between what you need for 500 vs. 600rwhp.

I'm seriously thinking about the STS Turbo kit. Man that think seems awesome. I'm wondering what kind of power would that thing put out if it had ported heads, headers, and 3angle valvejob and nasty camshaft.
I'm thinking about getting a GP on this. What do yall think?
dyno killer?

Turbo's have a lot of potential advantages. However, there are a lot more good running SC cars than turbo cars out there, which should tell you something.
As Steve said, there is no secret at this point to building a SC setup in the hp range you are considering. But as Chris has said, you will be in a different ballpark at the 600hp level vs. 500.
In either case, don't forget to budget the cost of the supporting components you will need, especially a rear end if you plan to race it with slicks and an upgraded tranny and converter if you are running a 4L60E or clutch for an M6.

There are many more supercharged f bodies. 9 out of 10. It is going to be less expensive and easier to do. Any car that is over 450rwhp on the street is too fast. So the if you looking for 5-600rwhp, 500 is going to be much easier to make. It is going to take a s-trim/p600 or larger at 12psi, good heads and a blower cam. The tuning is also very important.

Well for the money, from what I have seen the STS is making awesome power with the stock trimings. Maybe I'm being mislead, but I'm thinking the STS would be cheaper to build than with a SC.
Please scold me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, 500hp isn't ever cheap and 600hp gets downright expensive. With each increment in performance, the cost seem to increase geometrically.

If I were to start over, I'd get a PTK Turbo kit instead of the Vortech T-trim/Aftercooler. As RKrause stated, turbo's, in general, are better than superchargers. They produce about the same peak hp, but with far more low and midrange torque.
Costs?
Vortech T-trim + Aftercooler + Hooker LT's and hardware = $5900
PTK Turbo Kit (intercooler included, headers included) = $5000
The STS turbo is a good idea and certainly has advantages as far as ease of installation and access to the engine. But, with the turbo that far from the engine, the exhaust cools and loses much of its energy before reaching the turbo. This means that the turbo can't build boost until the exhaust system heats up.
The PTK turbo looks more like an OEM set-up like the '86/'87 Buicks.
Now that I think about it, anyone want to buy a T-trim/Aftercooler/Hooker LT's for $5000?

I origially had a turbo tech kit I traded for my s-trim + some goodies. The S-trim has been much easier (i'm assuming), and it's a a proven reliable kit with a ton of support on the board and it will get me to my goal of 500 rwhp. You want easy, go blower. You got money, time, knowledge and most importantly - GOBS of low end torque, go turbo.
I was searching around, and I found out that turbos aren't really that expensive. It's the kits that are out of this world prices. Of course, there's the agravation factor and time, but thats where the gratitude comes from on my end. I'm seriously thinking about a turbo on something that I own.

The knowledge wrt setup and tuning is much more prevalent, which can make the whole experience more pleasant and less costly.

Deal with it ... the dark side is waiting ... you won't be dissapointed.
Hope this helps

from what I have seen and heard lately, the $3000 kit from STS won't give you the 600 rwtq and 500rwhp.
You have to spend extra money for the water-methenol solution kit.
Then put dished pistons in the car.
Just information, thats all.
