sts update on the 93
So is Meth injection a oxidizer?......no it is a knock or detonation retardent, like everyone is sayin lets see other people run there stock pistoned 10.5 to 1 compression without intercoolers or water inj. Methane is basically just adding octane with the benifits of cooling the charge. So if I run 100 ul in a stock f-body will I make more hp because of the extra octane?? Prob not unless it has knock. So go put some Meth inj on a stock car and see what gains you get. I'm tired of seeing people riding STS's butt, The product is for some people and no for others. I believe they are targeting a crowd that dont want the hassle of bolting a turbo under a F-bod hood and thats what they are selling. So let it be.
I've been building my own kit, not the STS style. Here's one beef I have...
On STS's website, does it say what kit/options/conditions/turbo were used on the dyno? No. Does it say what condition the engine was in? No. Does it say what the internal parts were? Nope!
Many think the 12psi pull on the STS lt1 was done on a 383 and not a 350! That hasnt been denied (even without proof) anywhere. We all know some of their pulls were done on an lt1 with LS1 rods and a lowered CR. It doesnt say that on their website. Nowhere. Nada. End of story. That seams to be like you're leaving out some details to your customers. We know the stock lt1 even intercooled at 6 or 8psi will nuke. IT WILL. So now it seems like they're running 600hp out of the stock engine (according to their website) and that's something I cannot believe. Look at the numbers and look at the conditions. I have yet to see a stock lt1 longblock handle that much power - and I doubt those that have were the average motor...
Also must not forget a lot of people dont even have access to methanol - so what power should they expect from it all? Dont know. But I've seen setups where people wouldnt even run race gas without their methanol because the system ditched an intercooler to save on time or engine room... But with methanol they'd run 87 octane...
Seems like a big case of false advertising to me... I dont see why that could be...

secondly the first dyno runs of the 500+rwhp were posted on here and rick himself told people what was done to the motor, but that thread got deleted. im sure if you were to email him off the site theyed tell you what was done to the motor. what was stock about the motor was the exhaust, cam, intake, heads, tune...or so they claim right. its not like vortech or any other company puts out the exact details on there site when they post their dyno proven results, im sure youd find out if you were to ask. and this post was started by me as the results were emailed to a bunch of us, and like i said im pretty sure its a 383 now but still the stock heads, intake, cam, tune.
and 6-8 psi can be handled by a stock lt1 if its tuned right. theres proof here from blower guys, but like any forced induction vehicle if its not build to handle boost it will blow. hell even vortech claims there power gains on a stock motor on some of there adds. but we all know that wouldnt last too long.
and im sure methanol is more easily found then youd like to think. i thought that too untill i started looking into it locally and found many places that sell it.
and its not false advertising, if it were then almost every ad from any vendor would be false advertising. it may be selective advertising, which any company does. its up to the consumer to ask questions and make a decision themselves.
The basic STS kits are sold to run at a set boost, which do work without methanol. If you plan on increasing boost, this is not a conventional system, so contacting STS or dealers would be the best idea for a specific setup. Tuning goes right along with any FI setup when raising boost. Some of the questions are answered on the question page, and this info has been tested by STS.
The sequential methanol system works great for me, but if I chose to cool the air in another way it can be done.
If specifics are of interest you should contact the source.
CJ
Measured temp at outlet of compressor compared to the air temp just before throttle body. This would give you a difference in temp, or how much the air cooled.
