Question air filter splash guard ???

>when you install the splash guard around the filter (Vortech in this case) ... does it go on top to prevent water from falling on top or does it cover the bottom to prevent splashing water from the road ?

I put it under the filter instead of on top to prevent the water from hitting it from the ground .

Shouldn't really matter, the little bit of water that actually gets past the filter will usually just get caught in the intake tubing.

I dont think it matter, but I think Vortech has it on top since the car has the splash guard on the bottom already. It sounds like you took out the bottom splash guard from the car though.

Again I don't think it matter, but I left the Vortech guard out to give it move breathing area and routed air from a ducting from the air dam to the air filter. http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/hug...0025+front.jpg

Wrong!

My air filter is only a few inches off the ground and I cannot drive in the rain due to splash. When the filter is wet, water will get sucked through and end up dribbling into the MAF, causing instantaneous and momentary loss of signal from the MAF, resulting in a complete drop in engine power.

I really want a better solution, but there just isn't any available airspace in the front of our cars.

Top here... I figure that if they request in the instructions to put it on top I think they have some kind of reasoning behind it.
