Re: STS Turbo Kit

I am ditching both stock fans and getting a pair of pushers infront of the AC condenser. I also have a meziere, a 160thermostat, and some block fill... so it'll be tough to see exactly how it runs. I'm also putting a heat exchanger upfront, because I'm running air/water. I'm hoping for good results when I'm done as well.

Re: STS Turbo Kit

The PTK kit comes with dual pusher fans to replace the stocker units

Re: STS Turbo Kit

If only the PTK kit came with some sort of electronic tuning method that would allow the stock lt1 ECU to read boost

Are they developing something?

Pusher fans

Pushers are less efficient than pullers... it was my experience with the 383 RX7 that these pushed a lot less air than when configured as pullers. I tried many combos on that car... angled radiator, mechanical fan, electric puller, puller & pusher- never had an AC condenser either.

Of course, in NY, you will not have the heat we have here in FL. I sold the RX7 to a guy in PA.

I can't see this working for the TA, as there is also an oil cooler up front I would have to push air through. The current 11" pusher I have in front of the condenser does not push enough air to be noticed when you hold your hand behind the radiator. Air, like water, wants to follow the path of least resistance, and even though I sealed the sides of the radiator, there is still a gap between it & the condenser & I'm sure that is where a lot of the air is gong.

I'm waiting on some info from an STS vendor as to my specific application.

Re: Pusher fans

Well SEAL bought the STS turbo kit and he blew his motor in 2 weeks time.....That makes the 3rd person I have seen blow a motor on the STS kit.

Imagine that... Blowing a stock motor with forced induction Did you guys think the STS kit was not going to do it?

Well, we had our doubts considering what it is.

Re: Pusher fans

Did you ever consider modding the radiator/condenser assembly? When they go back in my car, I have finished the factory ducting that GM put there and sealed between them, preventing that from happening. I am keeping the stock puller on the passenger side. I have a puller on my heat exchanger. Then I'm putting a pusher infront of the driver's side of the condenser.

Re: STS Turbo Kit

Seal might chime in here, but things weren't on that stock motors side.
Over 100k
CC306
CC306 NA tune

The proto kit was on our stock LT1 for a year boosting.

Agreeing with SMOKNZ
You cant judge a FI system on this premise.

This is a great idea, but I'm modded-out on this car & just want something that will bolt on & work w/o having to reroute & fabricate stuff!

Re: STS Turbo Kit

About the STS: Couldnt I just buy their oiling system and use my old turbos? isnt it just a simple pump? Id like something simple as this that I can install at home.

I DO know that a standard setup would be better, but thats not what im after at this time ($&Time)

Thanks!!

Re: STS Turbo Kit

From what I've seen of it, the tricky part is the pipe that mounts the turbo itself. The rest of the parts appear to be pretty commonplace, to include the oil pump, which could be wired to run only when there is oil pressure via a pressure switch.

But, but....if the turbo's in the back, shouldn't that prevent the motor from killing itself? [/backwards way of thinking]
