to STS or not
to STS or not
Hey guys,
Been doing some searching and stuff, and am faced with a deillma.
I just bough a '95 Trans Am, and its bone stock with the exception of SLP shifter and functional Ram Air Hood.
Parts I have:
Hot*****s SFC
Hooker CB w/offorad pipe (cat delete)
Lt4 KM
CSI electric WP
1.6 RR
and a few other minor bolton parts.
I DO NOT have headers or gears yet, but would like to get some.
However, looking at the STS kit, the more i search the more it seems that you don't benefit too much going to headers over the manifolds.
Before I start throwing my parts on, I want to decide if I should go with a turbo kit like that, or go with all boltons and a wet kit. The turbo would be nice for full time power.
I have a third gen I race, so this would be strictly a daily driver. If I were to rebuild the motor in the future, I would probably use stock stuff with all quality ARP hardware and quality forged pistons.
My question is, what mods should a guy do (or not) to make this STS kit work. Saving on headers, gears, Y pipe and nitrous kit woudl go some ways towards paying for the STS kit.
So for guys that have had this kit, if you had a stock car to start with, what would you do?
In the future, should I build the motor and choose to run 12psi, could I? And also, could I add a little bit of a nitrous shot to complement the STS kit?
This car will not see winter, and will try to not see too much rain. Of course, some rain is not avoidable.
Let me know what you guys think I should do. What should I expect to see power and ET wise with this turbo kit?
My biggest problem is, I don't want to start modding my car and then have to change things or take off parts to change my combo later. I'm not looking for a drag racer.
Also, what about ground clerance with these kits?
THanks guys.
