The more i read the more i second guesse all the positive posts i've read, but then i see those dyno numbers. You can't put down a product that has the ability to give you a 100 hp increase with no tuning.

Props to you turbo boys, i hope to join you soon.

I have recorded the same gas milage as before the turbo, but that is of course moderate driving on 3psi. I have also tried to see how fast i can go through a tank on 7psi

My "as it came for the factory" turbo tech kit gave me an additional 100Hp and 150 ftlbs of torque at the wheels. So said the dyno, but it was funny how I couldn't break high 12's with this kit, even with slicks. I modified the kit with a larger intercooler, and a PT-76, heads, cam, fuel injectors, and put out even better numbers on the dyno (in sig) and still couldn't break out of the 12's even with a 118mph trap speed and a 1.90 60ft. A friend of mine with a 345 Hp Tuned port Vette runs high 11's to low 12's all day depending on the weather. It's not all about the dyno....

Oh and I do understand turbo's...

I would just love to see sts run there set-up up into the engine bay with a set of long tubes. No way in hell. I did some thinking and came up with a good route tho.

Also i heard that the long return piping acts as an intercooler and helps cool the air before it hits the TB.

You only went 112 mph with a turbo on an LS1 with Long Tubes??? Something isn't adding up here. NA LS1's will do that kind of MPH with longtubes...

Any pics?

My sig is my car. The LS1 is a test kit car. Don't have any recent times/mph on either right now.

When did I say anything about 400 Hp

If you have 400 Rwhp, or 500 as that dyno shows and your trapping 112, something is wrong. you should be in the 118-120's range, at least.

My friends 2000 SS with Long tubes and a catback with no tuning puts out nearly 350 at the tires and trapps 112 mph, stock weight.

Would there be any turbos out of a factory car that i may find at the wreaker that would do the job.

Even if all i get is like 50-100 hp, running 4-5 psi.

Would you need a larger turbo or a small one for a rear mounted set-up. Still not clear on this cuz i've read two differant stories.

thanks.

It is a moderate sized turbo. However you will need a turbine housing with a smaller orifice since it is further away from the exhaust ports, the compressor housing can be relatively large.

I read on another website that a guy was going to try a Grand National... personally the cubic inches don't add up (in my books). You may want to call Garrett and let them know your intent... perhaps they can refer you to a turbo in factory use.

Perhaps a late 80's Turbo Firebird? just a thought...

If I'm thinking right, you want something with a small A/R.

smaller A/R on the hot side, the quicker you will spool. not exactly sure what size the GN's have, but if you have a place around you that has like wrecked trucks, might want to look for a mitsubishi sumo, they use a 20G turbo (TD05 housing). its a decent size turbo for what you wanna do even if you only wanna make 100whp. but if your trying to duplicate this kit, dont forget about your oil. and be careful about what turbo you pick too. doubt you wanna run a oil and coolant line to the back of your car.
