Stock LT1 Heads

What would be an acceptable number for the maximum amount of horsepower that can be supported on a blown motor with the stock, unported LT1 heads?

This would be best discussed in the Forced Induction Forum, transfering.

Thanks.

Ive seen upwards of over 650+rwhp on stock heads on a boosted application.

who has this setup? Any other details...must be some big dishes in those pistons for a maxed D1 and bone stock heads.

Why would someone spend all that money on a 396 and not touch the heads

I wonder if he means ported stock castings? I don't believe 650rwhp with stock, UNPORTED heads. Heck, 650rwhp is pretty decent for a D1 on an LT1 with fully ported heads.

Sorry, misquote, he was making this hp on some afr heads. He made 540rw and 520tq on some ported stock heads.

I was wondering about totally stone stock head castings. Is port/polish work expensive, and would it be worth it to do on LT1 heads, or would LT4 or AFRs just be a better investment?

I am also considering going with a S/C on my stock 97 LT1 and am just wondering how safe 6lbs would be on it. I need it to last at least until next summer when I will hopefully have a new motor done. Right now I just have exhaust, headers, offroad y, airfoil, hypertech, and CAI. Thanks, Jarred
