Simple IAT question

At what IAT should you start getting concerned? Cooler IAT's are obviously better, but at what IAT #'s should you start to worry?

Re: Simple IAT question

I'd like to add to this question - how many boosted guys have relocated their IAT sensor and where to?

Re: Simple IAT question

There is no specific number. As you stated, cooler is better. I see 120-130 degrees at the end of a 1/4m pass using water/methanol injection and no intercooler, 22-23lbs of boost. My buddy with a 5.0 sees 70-80 degrees with ~30psi and an ice water cooled water/air IC, just to give you some numbers.

Re: Simple IAT question

The temps I posted are from an accessory IAT placed in the manifold plenum. One could locate the stock IAC if so desired.

Re: Simple IAT question

Thanks! This was pretty much what I was looking for. Just one more question to hich-hike onto the original: At what IAT do you need to start getting concerned about being too hot, or were possible detonation may occur?
