Running stock motor with boost. Who does it?

I'm looking for someone running 4 to 6 psi of boost on a stock engine. I would like to see what your HP is and your 0-60 & 1/4 mile times. Almost everyone says i should be in the 12's but im closer to the 14's which i know means something needs replaced or fixed. I want to say its a worn out part but there isn't anything screaming out at me. The car ran 14.53 before the mods and thats slow for a stock lt1 so the problem has been there for awhile. Any guesses what might be robbing me of a 1/2 second in the 1/4 mile? Please don't say slicks or a converter. I'm looking at fixing whats wrong and then doing all the other fun stuff.

sorry man but it just might be that powerdyne... i ran 115mph my last 1/4 mile with the STS kit but didnt get a ET due to the computer not printing teh time slip right. that was on 5lbs, my usual runs were 13.20 at ~109 on a really crappy track so i spun all through the 60'.

post up your entire timeslip from a good run.

I'm running 7 lbs of boost and dyno'd 378 rwhp/ 399 rwtq with a bone stock motor. My best 1/4 mile time is 12.6 @ 112 mph with a lousy 1.95 60' time (need more launching practice and better rubber). Before gears and stall I ran 13.3 @ 112 mph, and before the turbo I ran 14.1 @ 100.

Turbos make more hp/lb of boost. A few psi on a stock LT1 motor is usually disappointing. LS motors make a ton more power with a few psi from a centrifugal due to the superior heads.

My last run before the tune, new injectors and removing the fmu were 13.92 at just over 100mph. It was 85 and muggy and my 60' sucked. The altitude is 2000 feet where the track is. I did a 0-100 run last week and got a 13.47 so my times are improving i think. I got knock retard of 4 degrees and have been on all my wot runs so i will be backing off till i get the tune right. When i pop the hood i can hear the valve train under the valve covers. Is it normal for it to be that audible? I hear more noise coming from certain areas. It sounds like the valve springs or rockers or somethings is not right.

Do you have a boost gauge to verify? You should definately be trapping in the 115-120 area. I would readjust your rockers if some are making more noise than others.

The boost gauge reads 5 psi when the car shifts and i haven't looked when i was going over 50 so it may reach 6 at some point. If the car is 100% stock under the valve covers what the chances it is the rockers being loose? Would wear and tear of 100K miles make them loose to the point i need to tighten them? I been thinking if i replaced the springs and rockers it might fix my issues. Any ideas?

What are your actual 60ft times and also trap speeds? What are your A/F's? How much timing are you running?

You need to take a look in there. All the added noise could be a broken spring. You need to watch the valvetrain while the car is running to see if any rockers are moving weird compared to the rest. Do you have any blow by? Can you pull the belt off the blower to see how it runs w/o the boost? Also the springs could be weak and allowing the valves to open prematurely b/c of the boost.

My 60' times were 2.19 to 2.45 on 4 runs. My 1/8 mile were 9.03 to 9.24 on the 4 runs. I only hit 101.3 on the best run and 99.17 on the worst. These look like stock times and not what i should be running. I have only broke 14 second twice in 5 runs and that really sucks. Sorry to look stupid but whats blow by? I have checked every sensor and external part on the car and replaced most if there way any question if it could be a problem. I had the valve covers off only once and had no idea what to look for so next time i'll be ready.

Pull off your oil filler cap and see if any smoke huffs out when you're idling - that's blowby indicating piston or ring damage or other compression leaking into the crankcase..

And your mph is more an indicator of your hp - the et is largely related to traction which you dont have any.

Very true...superior heads, intake, aluminum block (dissipate heat), better valvetrain, and or course they don't have a optispark holding them back

The LS1 responds a hell of a lot better to major power adders, on the stock engine. Our LT1's just can't get around the corner, because of three major issues (Poorly designed Opti, intake, and lack of flow from the stock heads.)

The LS1 improved upon the things the LT1 didn't have, we all know that. Don't get me wrong though I always have loved the LT1, it just can't stack up to the LSx platforms.

Well if it makes you feel any better my car ran barely a 14.9 (@91.xx mph) with a 2.2 or so 60 foot. Car was stock and ran at Douglas, Wy.

Most people claim much better times at Denver even though elevation is similar (mile high).

No times with boost yet, But it runs like a raped ape now.
