rotate my racegate 1/4 turn?

Can I take the "top" of my racegate (the silver and red aluminum pieces) apart and rotate it 1/4 turn? I need to rotate it because the vacuum fitting I have on there hits my filter (yes, I have it oriented differently than the TT kits says to. Its dumping to the ground rather to the downpipe.)

Yep! You can rotate it any way you want. Just be careful when taking off the last screw the top is under spring pressure and will want to fly off, just keep pressure on it when removing the last few screws.

How do you like that??? I tried that for a while but the sound was not pleasing to my ears. I ended up venting back to the downpipe, and have been happier since. I can hear the turbo spooling again.

Bill,

I actually haven't heard it yet. Hopefully it won't be too bad because the way I have my DP designed, I can't route it back there.

I hope at decent pressure, the T-76 will be making so much noise that I won't hear much... atleast I hope!

Why not? I used some flexible exhaust tubing for a wastegate vent. You can bend it anyway you want. I was kinda concerned that the stuff wouldn't weld real well, but I had no problems welding it to a short peice of 1" exhaust tubing. I made up a short nipple for the downpipe welded it on and attached the flex tubing and welded it there, and used a flange on the wastegate with a short nipple on that, or you could have a 90 comming right off the wastegate if ya needed. Should it ever fail its really cheap and all i have to do is grind off the welds. I think I paid under $5 for like 2 feet of the stuff, i only used 6 inches or so.

I have a PT 76 as well and I couldn't hear the turbo. But Mine was pointed kinda upwards so that may have contributed to the noise a little

Got a quick question for you guys. When you swapped to the T76, what did you have to modify to get it to fit. I still have the 60-1HiFi, and might want to upgrade to a larger turbo soon.

As long as its an on center exhuast housing the exhaust will bolt up fine. You will have to modify the piping from the turbo to the intercooler though. The T76 has a 3" discharge.
