Rods

Knowing that I'm switching to a 383 now with a Callies DS crank, I would like to get some opinions/feedback on rod selection.

My engine builder is saying he's seen about the same reliability between H and I beam rods. We're currently looking at three companies: Manley (specifically the Pro Series Billet), Lunati, and Callies Compstar line (this is an LT1 btw).

What rods are you guys out there running, and how's the reliability on them been. Price, if you've got it, would be nice.

Re: Rods

All fine AFAIK. Have used both Lunati and Manley. H vs. I beam is a non-issue" in my book. Much more hype than reality. Don't know pricing off hand.

Re: Rods

I will be using the Howards PM rods on my blown 357 alcohol burner.
(6", 585grams, allegedly good to over 800hp.)

It's not on your list of choices, but I thought it worthwhile to mention anyway.

Dissemination of information. That's what we're all here for. Thanks for the option!

Re: Rods

When you get to this level, any of the rods you mentioned are going to be adequate for your needs. I personally chose the Callies Comp Star rods to be used in conjunction with the Callies D.S. crank. They are impressive rods as I am sure the other ones are as well.

Re: Rods

I really like the Compstar rods, and are about the same price as a Eagle H-Beam. We are dealers for Callies and Compstar products, so feel free to contact us with any questions.
