Remove ac compressor insert supercharger

Re: Remove ac compressor insert supercharger
I can get a supercharger off a mr2 and just rough fiquring it would be good for about 4-6 #'s. It should work with little fabing. Just wondering if anyone ever has done it. And i am not worried about losing my ac.

Haven't heard of anyone trying it, but that doesn't mean it won't work. There's a guy running around with an Eaton blower on his LT1, and I am running diesel turbos.. can't tell you how many times I heard it won't work... but give it a shot and let everyone know how it turns out!

Re: Remove ac compressor insert supercharger
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the 86-92 MR2s the only ones that had superchargers? And if so, aren't they roots-type and would be impossible to put on a V8? I don't know that much about them, just offering some info...

I know they turbocharged them as well, but that's a different story altogether.
Either way, I agree that a unit (turbo, supercharger, whatever) that is designed to make boost on a small displacement engine isn't very likely to do much for a 350 cubic inch V8.

Re: Remove ac compressor insert supercharger
Thanks for the info guys. I wasen't sure if it was worth doing. I am just looking for a cheap way to get into boost. I think the supercharger from the mr2 would work. the unit size is almost the same as the ac compressor and the pulley is the same size.

Re: Remove ac compressor insert supercharger
I would want to see specs on CFM vs. Unit RPM before taking the time and energy to do the job.
Even if it only makes 1 PSI, if it's free I suppose technically it can be a worthwhile endeavor. If it makes no boost whatsoever or just simply hurts the airflow, that would really suck, however.
