Turbo good for my set up??

This is what I have...97 engine with 20,000 miles, Lloyd Elliott heads/intake, hot cam kit, hardned push rods, msd 6-al with coil, Hooker coated LT headers, 52mm tb, new tranny that can handle 650hp, rebuilt stronger rear, soon to be 3000 stall, 30# injectors, full 3" exhaust with off-road Y pipe, cai, and can't really remember all of the others. Do you think 5 psi would be too much on the engine?? Let me know what you think. I'm not looking at making huge numbers, just a healthy e.t.

5 psi is not going to be a problem. Which turbo kit are you looking into? Any target horsepower numbers?

Re: Turbo good for my set up??

I am looking at both the sts and ptk kits. I've read pages and pages on the pros and cons of both systems, and I'm just looking for the most efficeint and cost effective unit. I'm not too concerned with price, I just want the driveability. I want something that works with my setup with out killing the engine. Not too concerned with hp...as long as it's safe, my main goal is a good e.t. time with out blowing the engine. I only go to the track on occassion and drive the car daily. She's not running too hot now, but I really don't feel like having to pull over when waiting in rush over traffic to let her cool off. The debates are very interesting on the two sides of the kits...almost like mustang vs. camaro

We need to know what your hp output desired is, that way we can pick a proper head unit for you to run.

Also with the hotcam's 112LSA you're going to bleed off some amount of boost, so 6-7 might be safe, espicially with heads. I wouldnt say it's that much of a problem either way...

But "efficient"? That means PTK.

Re: Turbo good for my set up??

Well, I'd like to be in the mid to high 400's. If I had it over to do, I would have made the bottom end stronger, but I thought what I did was going to be enough...and it just isn't. I would like to get a head unit, that if I ended up strengthening my bottom, that will have the versatility and ease of making more power. Is the turbo going to eat at my engine?? Thanks,

John
