Rear mount turbo
Rear mount turbo
I have been researching rear mount turbos lately and am trying to piece together a kit since I already have the turbo that I need. My question is, do you have to use an electric oil pump to get oil to the turbo or can it just be a gravity fed system? And if I do need the pump then where could I possibly find one? I was told by Majestic turbo in Waco,Tx that I did need a pump, however, when I started to look at the kits on the internet, I cannot find one that has the pump.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot - Cameron

Re: Rear mount turbo
seems too me like most of the people that actually OWN a rear mount set up like it.. i think these systems have there place and i think they are very much capible of making good power and showing it.. but i think its critical that they are set up properly, not everyone that wants a turbo set up can afford too drop 5-7k in a good conventional mount set up. i think these are great budget minded street turbo set ups that are more than capable
Re: Rear mount turbo
Front mount turbo will always the better. I chose rear mount for the following reasons.
Pro:
1) it is easier to build and not required to cut up the engine bay
2) It is cheaper to build.
3) Keep the nice cold a/c
4) Can make good hp
Con
1) Obviously will be more lag than front mount turbo
My rear mount turbo make full boost at exactly 4000rpm. This is with 1.18 a/r turbine housing on 383ci LT1 vette.
