Ran the Bluez - Mixed results
Ran the Bluez - Mixed results
Well, I had mixed results at the track tonight. Teched fine and the car ran great. Very consistent. I was off on my launches pretty badly. The first run I hit a 2.1 60 and ran a 12.54 at 114. The second run I was trying to brake stall and rolled through the staging light. I went ahead and ran without stalling and had a 2.21 60 and 12.6 at 115. The car will do over 120 when I learn how to drive it...
Should go deep into the 11s.
The good news was IT WAS A BLAST!!!
My wife got video of the second run. I'll put it up when I get the chance. The car felt really strong and launched straight.

Have you tried messing with the suspension? Were these numbers on ET streets or ET Drags? How much does the car weigh? It take alot of time and practice to run a good number.
I am going to dragstrip next week and am pretty excited to see what happens.

Well, these aren't excuses. I'll get better.
Nobody was getting good times yesterday because the DA was terrible. My MPH was very close to a very modified 420 ci/F1 blower car that weighs about the same or a little less than mine.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the way the car ran. So here's the excuses that aren't excuses...
1. The car with me in it weighs 3910. ouch
2. The DA was over 10K.
3. It was the hottest day of the summer, so far at 89 degrees. The car is still running hot. I drove it 10 miles though rush hour traffic to the track and it got all the way to the last tick before the red on the guage. I'd say close to 230. I cooled it down to about 180-190 for the runs, but it would be back up by the end of the run and I'd have to let it sit. That's one of the reasons we only got in two runs after teching.
3. Bandimere is 5800 ft.
4. I ran ET Streets on the back at 17 psi and my street 17s on the front (we were running late and I didn't have time to put on the skinnies...)
5. My first water box was good, my second was not as good. Still learning.
6. I didn't stall the convertor up on either run. Just dropped the hammer.
I've got the HD Meziere ready to go on and I'm going to add a pusher fan and bigger catchcan to deal with the cooling issue. Beyond that, it just practice, practice, practice... I've got a CSMA race day coming up on the 19th that should give me almost unlimited runs (the club is renting out the track and there will be a maximum of 60 cars there-- more likely 40 or so...) If I can get the cooling fixed by then, I can really get in some practice on my 60s...

Thanks for being nice, guys, but 2.x 60s suck...
But given that it's the first time I've driven at the track since high school 20+ years ago, I guess it's great that I didn't just peel over with a heart attack... lol
Anyway, I'll practice. By all accounts I'm a control freak,
so I'll do what it takes to improve.
You guys have been a great help through this whole process and I appreciate it. If you ever visit the rockies look me up...
