Race Gate Springs

Hey guys, I got a really good deal on a new racegate, my only problem is that it comes with a 3psi spring. I could just put a boost controler on it, but is there any issues running 10psi with only a 3psi spring? I would think there would be someproblem by trippling the pressure with a boost controller. Has anybody done this?

I'd like to just get a 7 or 9 psi spring if someone has one laying around please let me know how much you want for it.

TTT, nobody has an opinion how well a boost controller would work with a 3psi spring??

Re: Race Gate Springs

If you just want 10psi, the green spring along with a boost controller will work fine ... you can adjust the spring tension on the racegate, so the green spring can give you as much as 5 or 6 psi without a boost controller. If you want 15psi or more, look into getting a blue or silver spring, since the higher exhaust pressure will eventually overwhelm the wastegate spring (even with a boost controller).

Eddie,

Thanks for the reply, I'll have to find somewhere to get a stronger spring.

It's been a few years, but I ordered mine from Majestic Turbo in Waco, TX (www.majesticturbo.com) ... they had all of the racegate springs in stock @ $5 each!

Re: Race Gate Springs

I called majestic turbo and they dont have them instock. The guy also told me that my T-76 won't make any more horsepower at 7psi than when it was n/a.

I tried just pushing the waste gate open with my thumb and it does it fairly easily so I'm thinking that I need to do something. I just had an epifony(sp?), I've got a delta gate lying around with a 7psi sping in it. From what I've seen they are interchangeable so I'm just going to swap the springs and save myself some cash.

I don't understand that.

I don't either, from what I understand it will flow it just at a lower efficiency than what is "perfect" but it should still work.
