Quick turbo question
Quick turbo question
I'm beginning aturbo build on my 1977 Camaro... I have a good amount of auto knowledge, but I'm still learning about turbo specs. Any ideas on a turbo that will build boost at a lower RPM. My max rev is around 4,800 RPM...
Thanks for the input

Specs
Specs on the engine:
-5.7L running 8.5:1 compression
-If I take it over 5K I get some valve float, so some stiffer valve springs are in order. I'm not sure where that will take my rev range to so I just put in what I had.
-I'm not sure what internals I have seeing that the engine was rebuilt by someone else, I'm guessing the pistons are hyper nematic. it has about 45-50,000 miles on it.
I'm not sure what else ya need, but just ask for specifics.
Thanks for the quick response!

hypereutectic pistons are not going to like boost much and will be very prone to failure.
What are your power goals?
I can suggest a T60 or something along those lines, it will spool fast and give you full boost probably 2200 or so. However, it will also probably run out of steam at about 500 at the wheels

You should never allow either of these cases in Any setup. Hypereutectic pistons are just fine for 400something HP if tuned correctly. Tougher forged pistons give you added safety and more leeway.
