Question for HOBBS switch users...

Where is everyone attaching their HOBBS switch to the intake? I have heard of getting a thick block off plate on the back of the intake and mounting it there. Is there anywhere else it will go or fit on the intake?

I'm using a T-fitting and running it off the driver side. I like that idea though. I may have to try that instead as that switch is rather big.

Re: Question for HOBBS switch users...

That's all I wound up doing as well. Actually, in my case, I had tossed the FMU so I mounted it in the FMU bracket and used the old FMU vacuum/boost line. Just pushed it over the sensor, clamped it on to be sure.

My question is WHICH block off plate??? The big one on the left (if looking at the manifold from the back side) or the smaller one on the right?

Just run a tee off of the brake booster line. Summit sells the part and I believe its a 1/2inch tee thats barbed on both ends with a 1/4npt female tapped into it.

They are usually used inline with the fuel system to detect a loss of pressure. I assume that you are using it on a turbo/blower car?

I would just install a pipe fitting "T" with one of the other vacuum lines

So what is the concensus here?? Just tap the brake booster line for the Hoobs switch reference to switch on the second pump??? Probably the least intrusive install, but is there any chance of it messing with the brakes?

Re: Question for HOBBS switch users...

I highly doubt that it would mess with the brakes... a HUGE lumpy cam would make you lose vaccum...not a little Hobbs switch.

Re: Question for HOBBS switch users...

I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't interfere with the vacuum flow on that booster line. I didn't think it would but never hurts to check. Thanks guys.
