Do a budget 355ci with 12psi of boost can easily put you in the 500rwhp range.

Reuse stock crank and rods, use ARP rod bolts and a set of forged piston. TRW have the cheapest piston you can buy and very decent piston for your hp level. Walbro 255lph intank pump will do the job just fine and a 42s or a 50s injectors. Ported your stock LT1 heads.

You probably want to limit yourself to around 12#s with a budget rebuild on pump gas. Any procharger or vortech blower should work. The numbers in my sig are on a budget rebuild similar to what Bruce described.
