Push rod length

I need some feedback on my blower motor rebuild. I have a fully forged 355, 12lbs Procharger, Dart Pro 1 Heads and a 470,480 hydraulic flat tappet cam. I know the cam is'nt radical. But my question is do i need to measure for my pushrod length? Or can i go wth a standard length push rod for this motor? Reason being is i dont have and do not want to pay for a measuring tool. Any help and theories are appreciated.

Well, you can put a stock length pr in and see if it's right. IOW, use that as a "length checker". The tip of the rocker should be "centered" on the valve stem tip at mid-lift.

"Stock" would depend on whether the motor was originally equipped with solid, hydraulic, or hydraulic roller lifters. The size you need will depend on what lifters you are using. With a flat tappet, if the lifters are "standard" the "correct" length is 7.800". But htere is guarante that is correct for your exact combo, that's the point of measuring!

Thanks again Rich. Hey maybe you can help me on a post i put out there earlier. It was about getting rid of my FMU with only having a Walbro 340 intake pump and 42lb injectors. My set up is a 355 TPI, 470-480 cam, Dart pro1 heads and a 12lb Procharger with the help of reprogramming.

What computer are you using to control the fuel injection?
