procharger plus nitrous

hey guys i got a question here. i just bought a new motor. here are the specs. LT1 stroked out to 383 CU/IN. Forged Lunati crank and I-beam rods, JE blower pistons. 4 bolt splayed mains. LT4 Heads, Cam and intake. LTCC, coil per cylinder ignition. D1SC supercharger rated for 12 lbs of boost, precooler, and dual after coolers. SLP 1.5" primaries to 3" Loud mouth exhaust. All new sensors, sending units, mounts, etc.

i already have a nitrous system in my car, just sittin there. havent used it once ( been in there for 2 summers haha) i was wondering what all i need to do to be able to run nitrous with the blower. do i need a seperate fuel system for that?

Thanks in advance guys.

If your yuor current fuel system is adequate to flow the added fuel needed with the nitrous htan there is no need for a separate system. If it's a dry system, you may need bigger injectors. The problem you will have is that 12 lbs of boost and nitrous is not going to be too pump gas friendly.

One eye on the fuelpressure gauge when/if you try it.
We tried a 60 wet shot this weekend, new PB 9.44 (9.82 beafore)
Pumpgas from 2 intanke pumps stock fuellines and FP.

Water injection will help.

Re: procharger plus nitrous

thanks everyone for the help, i am kinda getting the impression that i would be better off just going with the blower. it is just a street car, (which i am hopeing i can get 700 whp out of it), i was just lookin to see if i could get alittle more out of it at the track. i kinda just thought with some tuning i could run nitrous fairly easy.

A small nitrous shot isn't a big problem. By "small" I mean ~50hp. It can make a big difference because it adds torque low down. I have experimented with mine as follows. Activating a small nitrous shot (75hp) results in an ~0.5 sec ET improvement due to the harder launch. This may not be true for other combos, but mine is very heavy (nealry 4,000lbs). Interestingly, a 250hp shot only drops the ET by about 1 second.

Same here only LS1 power, Im going to run a 50 shot on a window switch to help with the low end numbers and 60'. I havnt tried it yet, just bought a cage and still getting the car itself ready for the track. Im making 570 rwhp and 477 rwtq on the stock comp. motor with only a small blower cam, the P1 charger @ 10# boost and the twin ATI intercoolers. No problems at all, its been together for over a year now. A good tune is the key.

Why such small(1.5")primaries? If you are going to boost
and spray a 383 then you also have to pay attention to the
exhaust side. I think you need at least 1.75".

Re: procharger plus nitrous

the 1.5" is what came with the motor, was just gonna stick with it but i got some hooker long tube headers. i thought it might be easier to change plugs and things. those hooker headers are a real bitch to get at the passenger plugs.

Re: procharger plus nitrous

I have Hooker LT and #6 is kinda hard to replace but
#8 is the worst. On #8 I use a sawed-off plug socket
and a 3/4" open end wrench to remove. To start the
threads on the new plug I use a short piece of
vacuum hose on the plug tip to help facilitate holding it.

I recommend Autolite 104's as they are a shorty plug(more
clearance)and should be the right temp plug for your application.

thanks for the ideas man, i never thought about doing that, usually i always pretty much take the header right off to get to the #8 plug.

are those the same plugs that you are using in your setup? and if i dont decide to spray should i still go with the same plugs? thanks alot

Re: procharger plus nitrous

The colder the better. I am running a plug with an "11" heat range. Do not use a platinum plug.

Re: procharger plus nitrous

I use the 104's. They've worked the best for me.....with or
without the nitrous.
