Pro Turbo Kits

Does anyone have this kit

http://www.proturbokits.com/gmkits.htm

If so can you tell how well it works. your power numbers and such??

I have been looking at this kit and i cant decide whether or not to go Turbo or N/A........i am leaning towards Turbo but im not sure which kit to get.

If anyone out there with this kit could give me some pros and cons about it that would be great.

10lbs is nothing, prolly 9.5:1.

20psi, on pump? not gonna happen.

I don't know, if you could get your compression down to like 6:1, it might be possible. Just use the pistons that look like cereal bowls along with the shortest throw crank and the shortest rods you can find.

If you use the JE -31cc dished extreme duty pistons with a set of AFR's hogged out to 78cc you could get into the 7:1 area, but I'm not to sure how that would be for the street.

would i have to do 10-12 strictly on race gas if it was possible or would normal 93 octane be ok?

Heck, 20psi will be fine. Just neck your intake down to 1/2" and have your boost gauge read right at the turbo.

I think yo can get away with 15psi on pump. But after that you better start adding some octane to her.

Car is a 383, 8.5cr, 230/230 cam, big AFR heads, JE pistons, Eagle rotating assem. The kit is a custom unit, using all larger piping, larger water/air IC, PTE88, BOV and wastegate both venting to atmosphere, 4" DP is going on once I get the other style exhaust housing for the turbo. For now its just a 3" DP.

Ah, wastegate to atmosphere... You won't like it, it sounds absolutley horrible if it's anywhere near or in the engine bay. I tried it, but quickly reconnected it back to the exhaust. I love to listen to the turbo spool, you really can't hear it with the gate vented. But this is only my opinion.

Yeah, isn't it the BOV that gives the whistle sound when you shift?

If you call that a whistle sound... It's more of a venting something under pressure sound. The whistling comes from the turbo spooling. When the turbo is spooling under a moderate to heavy load, something is controlling it's output, the wastegate. The turbo can be putting out full pressure when under moderate acceleration, but the throttle blades aren't open far enough which restricts the air. under circumstances like this which happen quite often with street driving, the wastegate opens fully or even partially and it sounds like crap. To estimate kinda what it sounds like, it sounds like shooting alot of very small bb's into a very thin sheet of metal at a high rate of speed. I hated it. It was present everytime I got on the car.
