Your stating the obvious.. I said in my message that in order for me to hang with a stock Z06, I would have to do quite a bit of engine work, I already know that headers by themself barely put me in LS1 territory.

Its also very encouraging that for a little over $8000 you can hang with a $65,000 Vette. I think a stock Lt1 with LT's is a great car as far as bang for the buck. Great low end torque and good gas mileage to boot.

You definitely have good points. I never really thought of the price difference, I was just thinking in terms of how advanced all of these new cars are coming from the factory and how much further my LT-1 is going down on the food chain. You hit the LT thing on the head also as my Camaro is getting better gas mileage then my Grand Prix.

They're not overrated. They're underrated. Motor Trend dynoed one on a Mustang dyno. It put down 453rwhp.

Those are really good numbers on a mustang dyno. I can't figure out why GM would under rate their top of the line sport car. I could see underating a GTO or F-Body in order to sell more Vette's.

I pulled up next to a edit:2006 Z06 and started goosing it on the highway. He hit the gas first and jumped one car length on me. From 50 to 120 mph I put 4 car lengths on him. It wasn't even a close race.

Couldn't be more proud of my 500hp daily driver.
Awesome!!

I had a procharger with the 12 psi/12 rib pulley on my 355 LT1, twin intercoolers, longtubes, mildly ported heads, and hotcam it made 525 rwhp.
So when you going to turn the boost up?

Now my setup is the same bottom end of the motor with a CC 224/236 blower cam, more head porting on the intakes, 58mm TB, matched porting on the manifold/heads, a vortech V2 (it's a hell of a lot quieter than the P600B), electric water pump, and delteq ignition. I don't even have the blower on the car yet and it is pretty quick already. (est 425 horse on 87 octane). Blower going on as soon as price of gas goes down (just kidding).

Yeah, it does seem a little slow. Maybe they should add an STS kit or two.

Thanks. I am really happy with the way the car runs all around. I can barely tell I have a high lift cam just driving around town and at idle. But when it hits 2000 rpm and all the way up to 6200 it pulls alot harder than my old stock cam.

Your setup is very close to what I have. I hope my numbers will be as good as yours. I have a custom extra large intercooler on the bottom of the car under the swaybar. I also have a 12 pd pulley from ATI(3.70) with the crank pulley at 7.65 but it only makes about 9psi. I guess losing boost is a good thing as long as it isn't leaking.

I just posted a dyno, and have seen many others, that suggest the cars indeed have more than their rated horsepower. But keep disagreeing if you want to. Posting one video of one running 125 mph isnt proof that the car is overrated.

Re: Priceless Z06 Kill!

They're doing exactly what Chevy predicted... mid 11's, mid 120's.

Re: Priceless Z06 Kill!

I dont think they are overrated or underrated...they appear to be dead on to me. I always use 12% drivetrain loss for maunuals when I calculate and the ZO6 should be at 440rwhp with that 12% loss.
