Looking at plenty of pictures im trying to find out why i cant just put the ls1 ati procharger ram air box on my 1996 lt1 ram air ws6 d1sc dual intercooled procharger????? Why cant i do it, i removed my AIR pump and all egr, ill customize the box or piping if i have to, let me know guys i know its come up in discussion

The core support for the LS1 cars is way different than the LT1. Also, the blower on an LS1 mounts higher up than it does on the LT1, so you would need alot more bends in the pipe to make it work. You're basically going to kill any sort of benefit (not that I can see any). Why do you want to use it anyway?

 

I wanted it becuase of that awsome box that it comes with, so its not really worth it then?

I asked him questions and he didnt know anything, only thing he told me was that the upper radiator support was differnt or the core support, i dunno ive changed my mind unless i see that it has been done with the ram air box on a 96-97 trans am

im sorry he isnt retarded, i just was trying to get some answers thats all, i know its not a ram air box, but thats just what i said so people would understand what i was talking about, of course the ram air is defeated with a blower, i was tired of asking message boards how it could be converted to an lt1 car, so i call the manufacturer ati, i got more out a performance shop that sells ati, then i did from the manufacturer so i was kinda pissed

 

You can modify anything to fit. I've seen the air box your talking about, and with modification, I don't see why it wouldn't fit. The blower placement with an LS1 vs. Lt1 doesn't even come into play here as you would be dealing with the outlet of the intercoolers to the air box. This should be pretty much the same. And FWIW the radiator core supports are the same. Not sure if the LS1 has the MAF right after the airbox, but if it does you could come off the MAF with a 3.5" to 4" reducing elbow as the LT1 throttlebody is 4" but oval.

 

I asked the same question on another board. The response I got was from Bob from EPP...."The LS1 blower has the air filter location down towards the bottom of the left fender. I have the Ultra Z hood on my '99 Z28, I don't see any way to use the hood scoop in conjunction with the blower". Bob

However like SMOKNZ says anything can be made if you want it.

 

Yea thanks guys, i know the core support is the same, and the way the supercharger mounts it doesnt really matter, it is looking pretty tight for that one tube to run down the alternator side, but ill figure it out, ill let you guys know!!

 

Just qurious...did you ever get one of those boxes, and see if it would work on your car?
