Priceless Z06 Kill!

If anybody has any doubts about how fast a procharged and built lt1 is, this should put your fears to rest.

I pulled up next to a edit:2006 Z06 and started goosing it on the highway. He hit the gas first and jumped one car length on me. From 50 to 120 mph I put 4 car lengths on him. It wasn't even a close race.

Couldn't be more proud of my 500hp daily driver.

I still have the stock rearend and an lt4 clutch. So I'm chicken to try a quarter mile until I save up some more money. Good thing he didn't catch me at a red light.

edit:2006 Corvette Z06.

-505-hp 7.0 Liter LS7 aluminum block engine
-Dry-sump oil system
-Extensive race car technology and lightweight components
-Aluminum frame/magnesium engine cradle
-Carbon-fiber front fenders, wheelhouses, and floorboards (with balsa core)

His car probably weighs at least 300pds less than mine. Who says there is no substitute for cubic inches.

Yeah its like beating a 2003 SS camaro........

Oh wait a minute......

Lol, I think you mean a 2006 ZO6. And are you sure the guy could drive it? Im not calling BS but those are very impressive cars and it should take a lot more than 500hp in a F-body to beat one.

I just got my setup together this summer so I haven't had it dyno'd yet. I'm estimating my hp based on other similar setups I've seen here. Sorry didn't mean to exagerate.

This car was built with alot of the suggestions I've read on CamaroZ28 and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I guess its like a mother bragging on his child.

I will admit I had already downshifted so the Rpm was right in my powerband. It is still impressive even if all he did was floor it. I think the manufacturers claims on hp may be a little high. Anybody have a Z06 that has had it dyno'd. BTW after looking at the corvette site I think it was a 2006.

With your setup, you should be nose to nose with a new ZO6 (a mid to high 12xmph trap car). To put 4 cars on one that was driven correctly, you would have to be trapping in the low 13xmph range, and I doubt that....

Chalk it up to the guy either shifting at 4k because he is still in break in mode, or not down shifting which gave you the instant pull. Good kill though.

thats cool who knows what happened. just that he weighs a decent amount less then our cars. atleast from a dead stop i can bet he would be four car lengths on you.

It was a 06, since there was no ZO6 in 05.
A bone stock 06 ZO6 with 50 miles and at full temp dynoed 443rwhp and then dynoed 493rwhp with LT's(still stock exhaust) and no air filter.

Re: Priceless Z06 Kill!

thats some nice numbers there. even when i get my 58mm TB, new bigger alky pump and my transgo shift kit installed. i still don;t see me having a chance in hell against a Z06. my tuner said the fact my plugs were fouled out, fuel pump was acting up and i needed a bigger pump for my alky kit during tuning. i should see 425hp atleast at the rear wheels. they never let the car cool down on any of the dyno runs either.

Agreed, I could not hear where he shifted because my long tubes and ory were screaming. I just spent over a $1000 on my stereo system. Now I can't hear it because my exhaust is so loud!LOL

Re: Priceless Z06 Kill!

Very nice kill, but its also a little discouraging to hear... I have to do motor work and supercharge my old LT-1 to hang with a stock Z06.
