powerdyne vs custom rear mounted turbo
powerdyne vs custom rear mounted turbo
i cant decide whether i want to go with the powerdyne 6lb charger or a custom rear mounted turbo that i would fabricate myself. i have a 95 m6 z28 with 15k on a jasper engine. the motor is stock, i have some bolt ons like cai, cat back, holley tb, adj fuel pressure regulator, granatelli maf, 3.73s, sub frame connectors, lcas, and 315s. i just want some other opinions on what to do.
Re: powerdyne vs custom rear mounted turbo
An sts will kill a powerdyne setup in every aspect. More area under the curve, more potential power, more torque. If it were me and these were my two options, it would be sts for sure.
Re: powerdyne vs custom rear mounted turbo
He is not talking about the STS turbo kit. He is talking about fabricating his own rear mount turbo kit. I would shy away from both of of them, because Powerdyne blowers have trouble making more than 6 psi. They also have to be taken apart after 50k miles and have the internal belt replaced. If you are serious about going with FI, go with a vortech or ATI. If turbo is what you want, take the time and fab up an underhood setup.

It is very simple to fab a rear mount to be identical to an sts. Doesnt matter if its homemade or not, it wont affect performance...
Just be sure to get the right pump for oil, alarm, etc.
