powerdyne questions
i just intstalled a powerdyne a couple week ago and so far its working out pretty well, no real complaints. Right now its got what is sappose too be a 9psi pullie on it and it boosts up instantly it will make boost at half throttle which it awsome but it tops out at like 5-6psi on a bone stock motor.. thats cool i was only hoping for 6-7psi out of that pullie so i could run it safley but shouldnt it make more? with a stock motor? BTW at about 5k rpms the boost starts dropping off and the belt is pretty tight, I didnt want too crank it down but i would think it would take alot for it too slip as tight at it is plus i put some belt dressing on it and its pretty tacky is it slip or would it be collapsing the rubber intake tube?
Re: powerdyne questions
no, this is one of the problems with the powerdyne, it has bad slip issues up top. even with the tacky stuff. The only option is either a larger 8 rib custom pulley or else to make it tighter. the problem with the 9 lb pulley is that it is very small diameter so it has less area to grab than the 4 or 6 lb pulley. you might look at getting a larger crank pulley and using the 6 lb supercharger pulley to get it to spin the same amount.
Re: powerdyne questions
i wasnt planning on running alot of boost on it right now.. i was just thinking it should make more.. if it made 8-10psi id just take it back off.. i figured it wouldnt make a full 9psi but i thought it would do better than 5 or so but thats fine i didnt really want too run more than that anyways. Its about where i wanted it too be boost wise and the way it responds and boosts up very quickly i just wish it would hold steady at 5-6psi in the upper RPM range instead of falling off without me having too really crank that belt down. How much can the BD-11A units take safley?.. and for your amusement NO i dont have a forged piston motor ready to go yet altough i will very soon probably about 6-8wks and just for laughs the long block im running right now has about 195k on it and im hoping for some solid 12.50s out of it with nothing more than maybe headders at most before i pull it or it lets go whatever comes first.. might even throw a 50 or 75 shot on it once the new motor is ready to go just too see what it will do and hold

Re: powerdyne questions
I'm sure that you already know it, but you did replace/add the larger fuel-pump & injectors to go with the 9lbs pulley, as well as retarding the timing to match the extra boost, right?
As long as you did that, you should be able to use a solid-mount tensioner & get more boost from it. There is also a chance that your MAF is restricting your flow, (did you go w/ an aftermarket unit?) & sometimes the K&N oil will get on them causing them to be restrictive &/or to give the 'puter false readings, which can adversely affect the performance. You might pull the filter & clean/reoil it, & clean the MAF while you're there. (Some people recommend de-screening them, but I'm not sure about that.)
Also, the Powerdyne units don't come w/an intercooler (unless it's a new item), & some people have added them to their Powerdynes to increase the air-charge. There's also the coolant-bypass to help cool the TB (you probably know this, too.) I have a '94 LT1 with about 45,000 miles on the Powerdyne unit, & other than their bearings being junk, I don't have any complaints.
That's my thoughts, for what it's worth...

Re: powerdyne questions
I bought my car with the SC already on it and not much else. As it set I was getting about 5#'s of boost. When I installed the Headers and exhaust it dropped to about 3.5#'s. At the same time I installed the 9# pulley I put in the larger injectors with a MADZ tune. Thats when my boost went back to about 5.5#'s.
Re: powerdyne questions
im running a walbro 255 and an msd inline booster pump and the fuel system seems too be worknig pretty well im still on the stock injectors with an FMU. As far as an airfilter im using a K&N LIKE filter its not actually k&n and besides the coil i havent got too upgrading the ignition yet thats what i plan too do next i wanna get a new opti since mine is OLD and an MSD BTM box
