Polish the inside of the intake???

Is there any advantage to polishing the Inside of the Intake Manifold with a supercharged engine? Would the polished inside help the flow of air? Sorry for the novice question.

Anything you could do to smooth the dry air flow should help; challenge is getting to it. I guess you caould saw it in half, then tig it back together. Extrudehone works well also. This is where they force an abrasive "paste" thru the runners, and it removes metal uniformly.

I would think that it would be cool to be able to watch the airflow thru an intake. I would like to see how it acts when it has to make the 90 degree bend down the runner. Then, by polishing or dimpling differrent areas, you could affect the flow and speed, and increase the port filling...

That is an interesting idea. If the intake was dimpled in certain areas like a golf ball, you could effectively increase air speed. Hmm.

You may want to join this discussion as the last post goes into polishing the intake manifold.

Kmook, it seems that they are talking about fuel puddling in the intake port of the cylinder head. It is an interesting discussion. But the air is dry until it reaches the point of the injector. So, puddling or laminating fuel wouldn't seem like a big issue. But I really don't know... which is why I'm asking this question.

Thank you for the lead to that discussion. I subscribed to the thread just to keep track.

Thanks again.
