Partially filled block with Boost?

Anyone currently using a partially filled block and running boost as well? My 383 is filled to the bottom of the freeze plugs and will have an F1C procharger on it (boost undecided) I was just wondering how hot it may run? I will be using an air to water intercooler...

I don't have heat related issues.

Re: Partially filled block with Boost?

Obviously, depends on conditions. But I usually see 185-195 degrees with an electric WP and a 160 thermostat.

Dunno, never checked. But I always subscribed to the following as far as desired temps. The oil should be hot, the block warm, and the air cold. Obviously, oil can get too hot though.

Re: Partially filled block with Boost?

I just talked to an area machine shop and he suggested a partial fill also. He says it's fine for the street. He seems to think it helps cooling because it keeps more coolant around the cumbustion chambers. He also added that aftermarket blocks use more iron/less coolant in the area you fill. Just some thoughts, what do you guys think?
