Options for a forged LT-1

Hey everyone, I'm looking at buying a friends Z-28 off of him. The nice part about this is, It has a 9,000 Mile All forged 383. The compression has been lowered to 9.5:1, and the heads have been mildly ported. I would like to know what a safe range for me to go on boost would be. This car is gonna be a close to daily driver, and will be taken on trips cross country so it would have to be fairly livable. Also, the moron put the stock cam back in the new engine, so I'll be looking to upgrade that too.

Anyway, What are your recomendations????? I am looking at ATI. Thanks for your help.

It depends. If I had an LT1 car, and I was gonna boost it, I would get a pro turbo kit. Thats me, however, and I wouldn't try and install it myself.

I would recommend running 8lbs of boost through a Vortech S-trim.

10# Even with the lower compression??? What makes you say that? I'm not trying to cantradict you, I'm just courious. I am running desktop dyno right now and with the airflow numbers from the engine builder, and the cam specs off of this site, I am comming up with

314 Hp @ 4500
429 Ft/Lbs @ 3500

I understand that this method is'nt very accurate or condoned but it gives me an idea. With the blower you specified running the stock cam it comes up with

552 Hp @ 7000
563 ft/lb @ 3000

Does'nt that sound off? I don't feel the heads will flow enough air to pull that kind of power at 7000 rpm ESP with the stock cam. Like I said this is gonna be a daily driver, But I'm not worried about running premium Or upgrading the driveline. Please get back with me Because I have some extra money sitting here and it's about time to start spending it. Thanks for your help. Mike

Then I wouldn't even think about owning a boosted car if you can't work on it.

If you have very deep pockets thats one thing, but FI needs attention, plan on wrenching on it, cuz stuff will break. If you want something reliable stay NA and stay mild and off sticky tires.
