Need help with Turbo decisions for Forged LS2 Engine
I am stuck in a tough situation. I am in NJ which from my understanding is the next closest state to CA as far as being tough on emissions and inspection since most NJ inspection stations are now privately ran. I am having an engine manufacturer build me a low compression engine to withstand a lot of boost, but the problem isn't the engine. Its the turbo. I would like to buy a PTK system, but i have been told that it wouldn't pass visual inspection even if it did pass the sniffer test. And to my knowlede, i know of no other systems that would pass NJ inspection other than the STS rear mount. I was just wondering if any of you had some ideas about what i can do for a turbo system? Otherwise its just going to be the STS with a 76 GTS turbo. I have faith in the STS, but little faith in the spooling. Thanks for the help.

once a year, pull the kit off pop on the manifolds and factory exhaust and make a trip to the DMV.. the better compromise to going with something you want second best.. I would prefer to love my turbo kit 364 days a year and hate it one then hate it 364 days and only love it one day. and when I say this, it is because I don't settle for something less then what I want no matter what the wait or task at hand is at getting it.

For a rear mount the 76GTS would be very laggy for even a 346-350+ci engine. If you plan to stay around 450-650rwhp then stick with a MP T70. It uses a lightweight shaft and has plenty of grunt for the top end lovers.

it really doesn't even matter in NJ any more if you pass inspection or not because they have so many roadside inspections during the summer on the way to the shore you can get screwed either way. Visual inspections, mobile sniffers, etc its getting ridiculous. I got pulled over twice this summer in my 2004 Jeep, absolutely no mods to the exhaust, they bitched about the aftermarket intake, they bitched about a 4" lift, they bitched about the amount of off-road lighting even though they had covers on all the lights except the headlights. I had the doors off and even with the mirrors relocated on the windshield pillar they tried to get me on that. If i ever get the camaro back on the road, i guess I will just have to pray I dont get pulled over because they probably wont give it back. . . fckin treehuggers
