The problem continues....
I liked that solid "cobra head" intake and decided to go with that one, so I called powerdyne today and they have no Idea what the hell I need. I tried to explain it as best I could and they told me I needed to check some ford truck magazine for a ford intake tube.
Could you possibly tell me the part # or give me a phone number to who you were dealing with that knows what the hell It is?
Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

Paul,
I sent you and email with the info you needed.
Basically I made the guy on the phone from Powerdyne go to thier webpage and look up the Powerdyne Supercharger Kit for 93-97 GM Camaro/Trans Am w/ LT-1 kit and told him that I wanted the intake that was above the crane ignition box (see link below).
EDIT: First Link did not work so follow the instructions below.
This is what I did and you should probably do the same.
Click on the Link,
Then Click on K10503-101
You will see the Intake above the crane ignition box.
Now just tell the sales person on the phone to do same and they can find out the part number for you and sell you the intake...

Claude,
I got it on the way. (finally)
It really helps to have someone on the other end of the line who cares enough to actually look at the pic before he tells me to look at a aftermarket powerstroke book!
Anyways, thanks for all the help man. I would have probabally just been lost and tried to make the old system work.
now, just one more question, What k&n air filter did you go with?
Thanks
Paul

Okay I might just be trippin, but isn't this thread a solid intake tube for a vortech? There no way the little cobra head and filter will fit there, no possible way without another bend. The vortech mounts higher up than the ATI...
I was trying find ways to make a solid intake tube and relocate the MAF on my vortech too... anybody have any good suggestions. But I don't see how that cobra head will work, if I remember correctly, it will hit the steering rack or the k-member or something. Maybe the cobra head with another 3" bend pointing forward then attach the filter on to the bend.
Can somebody tell me if I'm completely off?
Oh and any suggestions/pics of MAF relocation/Homemade solid intake tubes on a vortech??? I know Tim Chiaretto did some really clean work on the MAF relocation.

Depending how high your Vortec set up is you can probably use some PVC tubing with a 90 degree bend attached to the Powerdyne intake and use a Bigger Filter than I have. This would keep your filter parrell to the bottom of the car (instead of perpendicular...like mine is, hence you could run a much bigger filter.)
Good luck with your set up and lemme know how it turns out.
Thanks,
Claude
I just had a muffler shop build a 3.5" solid intake tube for my Vortech S-trim, and they also hollowed out my cat converter. Since then my car wont rev up past 3500 rpms it will fall on its face if I try to rev it past 3500rpms. Almost feels like its hitting a rev limiter or something, also my Crane ignition retard box lights up when the car acts up. I checked for detonation with a scan tool, but it shows no knock retard at all. any ideas??
Well, I don't know about the reving problem, 96Z28/93TA - but it sounds more like a ignition problem than a induction problem, I can't see how having a solid intake could make it fall on it's face. unless you went with like a 1" pipe.
96 WS6 - I don't know for sure if the intake will work, because it has not got here yet. I went to both vortech and powerdyne's home pages and pulled up pictures of the engine with the kit fully mounted on them and it looks like they mount in the EXACT same place..... I don't know - but I figure it's worth a shot, for better performance and to get rid of that dryer hose.
just my $.02

Have you installed the kit yet? I doubt it will work, I'm going to go look under my car just to see. **** if it works on your car you're gonna see me ordering one the same day
but I'm pretty sure it won't work, there has to be another forward bend to clear the k-member, then you could have the filter pointing forward...
Have you addressed the problem of the MAF relocation as well? I would like to do the power pipe/blow through MAF change as well. Email me and we can chop it up and come up with some ideas or some design or something... later.
